We are
planning to attend the Pocono Mountain Scout Ski Weekend in Stroudsburg, PA
again. This year’s date is Saturday March 8th. We will meet in
Ralph’s driveway at 5:45 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2008.
Due to the
popularity and nature of this event the junior leaders have decided to loosen
the prerequisites for the event. In the past you had to be at least a First
Class Scout, this year everyone is eligible to participate. Participation is
limited due to car capacity. “First come first serve” will be based
on the date you turn in the permission slip and fees in full.
The cost of
the event includes the tolls, transportation expense, equipment rental, and ski
lift ticket. We have recommended that the scouts bring their own lunch and
supper as the snack bar at the ski resort is expensive.
During the travel on Saturday there will be only one rest
stop, we will not stop to eat in the morning. We will make a full stop on the
return trip where the scouts will be able to purchase a meal if they so choose.
We will be
returning on Saturday in the early evening 8:00PM-8:30PM. It will depend on
when the boys will have had enough, since the slopes will be open through 5:00
PM.
In
comparison shopping we have found this event to be a very good value. Typical
group rates, (15 or
more, which would excludes us), for this activity usually are twice as expensive. Since not everyone is going to do
the exact same option the pricing for this trip is going to be a la carte from
a low of $ 49 to a high of $ 65:

The one time “First Timer Lesson” is recommended for
those who have never tried it before

buddy system will be used. Therefore, at least two people must do the same
