The Westpoint Orienteering Clinic - Sponsored by the U.S. Military Academy Orienteering Team 4/13 - 4/15
The abbreviated weekend turn out to be a great event. All the Scouts had a great time. Tents were the order of the day this year since the
barracks were being renovated. On Friday night the scouts were taught basic fundamentals in the auditorium. On Saturday morning the
classes were outdoors with practical lessons, a pacing course and practice walking off bearings.
The Saturday afternoon was spent running a White, a Yellow and an Orange course. Usually the Orange course would be run on Sunday
morning. However with the impending severe storm and the anticipated six inches of snow it was decided to squeeze the event all on
Saturday. None of the participating Troops were prepared for a snow event or a serious storm. But that is April for you.
Still the scouts had a blast and voted to return next year.
